God’s Supply Is Always Much MORE Than Your Demands!

I have a message for you today that I know will bless you abundantly.

Do you sometimes get caught up in the demands of life?

Maybe it has got to do with your role as a parent, as a spouse, as a sibling, as a friend or as a lover.

Maybe it has to do with the challenges at your workplace… as a boss, as an entrepreneur, as a colleague or as an employee.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by our responsibilities or what's expected of us. We feel stressed out and burned out and we wonder if anyone understands or even cares about what we are going through.

Beloved, I want you to know that God understands, God cares about you and God's supply is always much MORE than your demands.

1 Peter 5:7

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Philippians 4:19

And my God will supply ALL your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Just as He supplied the Israelites with daily manna when He was leading them out of Egypt (Exodus 16), I want you to know that right NOW, you can look towards the Lord for ALL your DAILY provisions.

If it's strength you need to carry on, draw on His mighty strength…

Psalm 28:7

The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

If it's faith you need, look to the author and finisher of our faith and draw from Him…

Hebrews 12:2

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne.”

If it's wisdom you need to handle a difficult situation or to help you make a tough decision, ask Him for it.

James 1:5

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

If you need anything… anything at all… Look to the bread of life!

John 6:35

Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.‘”

John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I (Jesus) came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

We have a gracious God who is ready and more than able to meet ALL our needs. Are you ready and excited to receive from Him?

“Did God Forget Me?”

Have you ever had this thought run through your head…

Did God forget me?

Well, I want you to know that you're not alone. Many times, when we are going through what we would consider trials and tribulations, we wonder where God is.

David summed this up perfectly in Psalm 13…

Psalm 13

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.'

Now, we do not know exactly what David was going through here but suffice to say, it must have been an extremely difficult time for him.

If you're also going through some challenges in your life now, take heart because we have the benefit of hindsight to know that God raised David up mightily (despite his weaknesses, worries and all) to become one of the greatest kings of all time. In fact, Jesus was affectionately referred to seventeen times in the new testament as “Son of David”. Oh, how the Lord exalted David!

What I believe God wants us to learn from Psalm 13 is what David did in the midst of his storms…

David turned from his anxieties, worries and problems to focusing on the Lord as his personal Savior. He started praying to, worshipping and praising the Lord in spite of the situation he was in.

That's what God wants us to do…

You see, often, we are so caught up in our problems that we fail to sense His presence… We fail to realize that He is always there with us!

Deuteronomy 31:8

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”‘

When God brought His people out of Egypt, He went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud by day to guide them on their way and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night (Exodus 13:21).

When they complained of hunger, He rained manna every day to supply them with food (Exodus 16; Psalm 78:24) and when they complained of thirst, He made water come out from the rock for them to drink (Exodus 17)

Beloved, are you focused today on how blessed you are that you're alive, that you're breathing, that you're reading this email?

Are you focused on The Lord's supply (that you might have already taken for granted) or are you focused on “Why haven't my prayers come true yet, Lord?

As we turn from our “mountains” (challenges) and focus on our “rock” (Jesus), we allow His love and His grace and His blessings to flood our lives…

I just want to reassure you today that God has not forgotten about you.

God loves you and even though you might not be aware of it, He is working in the background to turn your situation around…

Like David, you have a glorious future in Christ!

God Is Not Only Able, He Is WILLING

The bible contains many accounts of Jesus healing the sick. One of them involves a leper who boldly approached The Lord after He had just finished preaching the sermon on the mount…

Matthew 8:1-4

When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Today, I just want to share with you some revelations from this man's short but powerful life-changing encounter with Jesus that are going to bless you abundantly…

Notice I used the word BOLDLY to describe the leper's action. Indeed, at a time where everybody was still living under the Law of Moses, the leper could have been stoned to death for appearing in public while being “ceremonially unclean”.

What this means is that he was actually risking his life just so he could appear in front of The Lord to request for His healing!

Imagine what must have been going through the leper's mind… If he had been focused on all the terrible things that the crowd and the religious leaders of the day would do to him or how they would perceive him (Leprosy is a terrible disease and he must have been disfigured), he would never have dared to approach Jesus. Instead, he was focused on the saving power of Jesus…

Beloved, today, are you focused on your fears, your doubts, your anxieties, your challenges, your insecurities etc. or are you focused on Jesus?

As you can see, when you focus on Jesus, your fears dissipates! (1 John 4:18)

Now, it's clear from the leper's request that he was confident that the Lord COULD heal him. He probably heard about all the miracles that Jesus had already performed and that strengthened his faith that the Lord is able (This is why I encourage you to study the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as they will only strengthen your faith)

The only problem was he wasn't sure if Jesus WOULD heal him.

I can only imagine that the devil must have planted awful thoughts of self-condemnation in the leper's mind such as “I am such a rotten sinner… I don't deserve to be healed/happy… I know the Lord is able to heal me… but I've done so many terrible, shameful things… and I'm pretty sure he knows all about it… why then would he still be willing to help a wretch like me?

Beloved, if you find any of those thoughts familiar, you're not alone. They are just weapons of spiritual warfare used by the enemy to get you to focus on your own inadequacies rather than on your Savior's loving grace.

I want you to focus on the facts… I want you to look at Jesus' response…

Matthew 8:3

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.

Jesus was not only able and willing to heal the leper, He did it with such compassion. We know from other scriptures such as the account of the centurion's servant (Luke 7:1-10) that Jesus operates outside time and space and is capable of healing from a great distance. Touching was not actually necessary but why did He do that?

Because The Lord wanted to restore the leper completely.

In that day and age, as soon as you're diagnosed with leprosy, you're immediately exiled from your community. The leper must have experienced intense feelings of loneliness and depression and felt extremely unloved. It must have been a long time since anyone even got anywhere remotely close to him.

Jesus' touch was a touch of love.

We also know from the book of Leviticus that if you're clean and you touch anything/anyone unclean, you become unclean. When Jesus came, he reversed everything. Jesus (clean) touched the leper (unclean) and the leper became clean!

Beloved, I just want you to know that God loves you. Whatever challenge you're facing today, be it loneliness, depression, a pain in your body, a heartache, or a financial difficulty, you can come boldly unto His throne of Grace to receive His mercy and find grace to find you in your time of need… (Hebrews 4:16)

God is not only able, He is willing to save you, to heal you, to deliver you! All you have to do is believe and receive…

A Prayer To Strengthen Your Faith!

I've been called today to pray for God to strengthen your faith.

Every spiritual attack is actually an attack on your faith. The devil knows that if he can plant seeds of doubt, stress and condemnation in your mind, he can turn you away from God and towards your problems. And that's not a position you want to be in.

If you feel overwhelmed by your challenges or anytime you feel that you're losing faith, I encourage you to pray this prayer with me…

“Daddy God,

Thank you for loving me (John 3:16).

Today I choose to magnify Jesus rather than my problems.

Today I choose to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Today I choose to worship and praise you despite my circumstances and despite how I feel.

Today I choose to look to Jesus and behold the perfect work he has done on the cross.

Today I choose to be like David as he faced Goliath (1 Samuel 17:45-47). I choose to put my full faith in your ability and willingness to deliver me from every giant challenge in my life.

Nothing is bigger than you and there's no challenge you cannot overcome.

Thank you Lord for always being with me… for never leaving nor forsaking me (Deuteronomy 31:6)

I love you because you first loved me.

In Jesus' mighty name…”

God Always Puts You In The Right Place At The Right Time

I'm writing to you from Taipei where I'll be staying for the next one month. Honestly, I don't really know what's God's purpose for me here YET but I do know this…

God always puts you in the right place at the right time!

How do I know this? Well let me share a story from one of my travels last year…

***

22 May 2014 – It's my third week in San Francisco. I should have left 2 weeks ago if not for the San Diego fires and my foot injury. But now, I know why God kept me here.

2 days ago, while I stayed indoors to nurse my foot injury, I met a fellow traveller from my hostel. We started talking and she shared with me all the beautiful places she visited and her adventures and I shared with her the story of how/why I founded my 101 Powerful Affirmations Facebook community and my mission to bring more love, hope & joy to the world…

Then she confided in me something that shocked me. She told me that she was in depression and her original plan was to see as much of the US and Europe as she could and end her trip by jumping off a mountain (In her own words: “Ending life on a high”)

Praise be to God that she added I inspired her that there is so much MORE to experience in life, that we can always bounce back from hard times and that she can find deeper meaning and purpose in her life and use her own story/journey/adventures to inspire others too… =)

Don't underestimate the power of words to reignite someone else's flame (or your own…) and set them off on a different trajectory…

“Life is beautiful!”

***

Romans 8:28 – “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

I truly believe that. Let's see what God has in store for me in Taipei… (In the meantime, feel free to hit me up if you're in the area. Cell: 0983080347 )

Give Jesus all the glory…

How To Pray When You Don’t Know What To Pray For

Do you sometimes feel like you're in a dire situation… that everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong… and you feel like praying to God to deliver you from it all… but you're feeling so overwhelmed that you're not sure how to pray that prayer?

Or perhaps you just want to draw closer to Him… not necessarily to ask Him for anything but just to bathe in his sweet presence?

I'm about to share with you one of the shortest prayers you can pray in any circumstance. It's just 3 words but it's one of the most powerful prayers you can ever pray…

When you don't know what to pray for, just say:

Thank You, Lord…

Now I know what you might be thinking. It's definitely easy to say this when we are at the height of His blessings… when we can see His glory and works manifested in our lives but what about when we are going through the valleys?

Psalm 34:1

“I will bless the Lord at ALL times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

David wrote Psalm 34 at one of the lowest periods of his life. He was seeking refuge from king Abimelech while on the run from Saul who wanted him dead. Fearful that Abimelech will betray him to Saul, David pretended to be insane so that Abimelech would let him go.

Notice that David did not say to bless the Lord, to give thanks to Him and praise Him only when times are good.

No… David said… “At ALL times…”

2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

As humans, we tend to focus on what we see or what we are currently experiencing. God wants us to walk by FAITH.

Faith means to see the miracle that we are praying and believing for as if it has already happened.

Instead of focusing on how big our problems are, let's focus on how BIG our God is.

Praise and worship unlocks the door to His miracles!

2 Chronicles 20:21

“After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: ‘Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever.'”

When King Jehoshaphat and his people were surrounded on ALL sides by their enemies and fear started to grip the whole of Judah, he put his complete trust in the Lord and instead of sending his best warriors, he sent worshippers (singers) onto the front line to give thanks to the Lord… (What a great act of faith!)

At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, The Lord caused Judah's enemies to attack and kill each other… and left King Jehoshaphat and his people with all the plunders of war! (2 Chronicles 20:22-29)

What a wonderful and gracious God we have that as we put our faith in Him, He will fight our battles for us and let us claim the victory!

Beloved, I want to know that when you pray the 3 simple words I just taught you, you're saying so much more…

You're saying…

Thank you Lord… (It doesn't matter what I'm going through right now because I know you're a faithful God and you will deliver me)

Thank you Lord… (I put my complete trust in you. You are my shepherd. I shall not lack)

Thank you Lord… (Thank you for loving me)

Thank you Lord… (No weapon formed against me shall prosper)

Thank you Lord… (I rest in you. Thank you for fighting my battles and letting me claim the victory)

And so much more!

Have you been blessed?

A Prayer For More Of God’s Favor In Your Life!

Beloved, I want to pray for you to manifest and receive more of God's favor in your life today.

Please repeat this after me…

“Daddy God,

Thank you for all your wonderful blessings in my life!

Thank you for blessing me in the city and blessing me in the country (Deuteronomy 28:3)

Thank you for making me the head and not the tail; the top and never the bottom (Deuteronomy 28:13)

Thank you that no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)

Thank you for putting me in the right place at the right time to meet the right people (Ecclesiastes 9:11)

I claim the favor of Noah (Genesis 6:8), the favor of Joseph (Genesis 39:2), the favor of Ruth (Ruth 2:13) and the favor of Esther (Esther 2:17) in my life today!

I'm holding on to your promises for you are a faithful God (Hebrews 10:23; Deuteronomy 7:9)

I know that I'm in this world but not of this world (John 17:16). You have set me apart (1 Peter 2:9). I am your beloved in Christ and I've found favor in your eyes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

In Jesus' mighty name…”

Beloved, Stop Bullying Yourself!

I believe God wants me to tell you something important today…

Stop Bullying Yourself!

“Huh?” you must be wondering… “What do you mean, Shun-Jian? I don't bully myself…”

Oh but yes you do… all of us do…

Every time you ALLOW negative thoughts to defeat you, you're bullying yourself.

Every time you ALLOW someone else's opinions of you get to you, you're bullying yourself.

Every time you DWELL in self-pity, play the blame game or act as the victim, you're bullying yourself.

Every time you BEAT yourself up for something you should or shouldn't have done or said, you're bullying yourself.

Every time you CHOOSE to feel angry, guilty, frustrated, depressed, fearful and ALLOW those toxic emotions to cripple you, you're bullying yourself.

So how can you stop bullying yourself?

1) Well, I've already given you a valuable resource for you to do that… My 101 Powerful Affirmations eBook… which I've given to you for FREE. You can use them to counteract your negative thoughts/emotions.

2) You may want to consider turning to a professional therapist who can help you learn how to manage your thoughts and emotions.

3) Realize that you are a beautiful child of God. Understand and truly believe that God is on your side and wants the very best for you:

John 10:9-10
“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

When you bully yourself, you're preventing all of His blessings from flowing through your life. It's as if God is knocking on your door and you're refusing to open it.

Revelation 3:20
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

Jesus is knocking. Are you ready to open your door?

Beloved, Rejoice For He Is Risen!

Today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I want to share with you what His death and resurrection really means so you know why you have so much to thank God for.

Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

And…

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

In all four accounts of the Gospel (Mark 15:6-15, John 18:39-40, Luke 23:17-25, Matthew 27:15-26), Governor Pontius Pilate was forced to release Barabbas, a notorious prisoner and murderer (a vile sinner) instead of Jesus, who had no sin, knew no sin and did no sin.

Barabbas is actually a picture of you and me: a sinner who deserved to be crucified but instead God sent Jesus, our sacrificial lamb, to take our place at the cross to pay for all our sins.

2 Corinthians 5:21

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

At the cross, the divine exchange took place. Jesus took in Him all our sins and bore the full blunt of God's wrath (against Sin) and as He cried out “Finished!”, we can now rest in His perfect finished work and boldly proclaim “I am the righteousness of God in Christ!

His resurrection is a divine receipt (proof) that all our sins have already been FULLY paid for!!! If there were still any traces of our sins left unpunished, Jesus could not have been resurrected. The work is DONE once and for all… It is finished!

Today, our Lord is risen and sits at the right hand of God (Luke 22:69, Mark 16:19). We can rejoice because as believers, we can now come boldly to God's throne of Grace to FREELY receive all His blessings (Hebrews 4:16).

Today (and forevermore), God sees you as He sees Jesus: Perfect, Righteous, His Beloved. Yes, you may not feel that way sometimes and from time to time, you might still fall into sin, but that doesn't affect your permanent standing of righteousness in His eyes. There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1)

Hallelujah!!!

Beloved, Keep On Believing!

Have you been trusting God for something for the longest time but have gotten just a little weary from all the waiting because you have yet to experience the manifestation?

Whatever area of life that you're trusting God for a massive breakthrough in, I'm here to encourage you today to keep on believing!

Turn with me to Habakkuk 2:3

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

We are living in the generation of instant gratification. When we send a text message to someone, we expect them to reply us within 5 to 10 minutes. When we order a pizza online or over the phone, we expect it to be delivered in less than an hour. We want things and we want things NOW.

And we expect God to work in that way too. We expect that the things we pray for be answered almost immediately and we get frustrated or even disillusioned when we don't see the miracles, especially after what we perceive to be a “long time”. We hate to wait.

But God doesn't work like the way we do… because He holds the big picture. He can see things that we can't and we just have to trust in His perfect timing.

Let me give you an illustration that Pastor Joseph Prince, from New Creation Church (which I attend), always loves to give.

Pastor Prince has a young son named Justin whom he loves deeply. Like all boys, Justin gets really excited about cars but precisely because Pastor Prince loves Justin so much, he would not go out and buy him a car at this time. That is because Justin is not mature enough to drive yet and having a car now will NOT serve him (and it might even hurt him because he is not equipped to handle the vehicle).

Romans 8:32

“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

God has already sent His precious Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. If He did not withhold heaven's best from us, what makes us think that He would withhold the healing, financial breakthroughs or whatever else we are asking Him for from us?

It's just a matter of the right timing (and only God knows when the best timing is to give us what we have been praying for).

Whenever you feel disheartened, always, always, always look to His word.

I believe God wants me to tell you today to continue to “wait for it… because it will SURELY come” (Habakkuk 2:3). Beloved, keep on believing!
